Am vergangenen Wochenende fand in Schenefeld wieder einmal ein tolles Turnier statt. Das Starterfeld war zwar klein, aber fein, und der Veranstalter hat Alles möglich gemacht, um trotz des schlechten Wetters gute Bedingungen zu schaffen. Das ist ihm größtenteils auch gelungen, wie ich finde.

Für viele ging es darum, die Qualifikation für CCI*** zu erlangen, auch für Ben (mit Wildling) und mich (mit Buddy). Deshalb entschieden wir uns gegen die CIC***-W Prüfung (in der die Deutschen Meisterschaften der Senioren ausgetragen wurden und auch noch einmal alle Kentucky-Aspiranten starten mussten) und für einen Start in der CNC***, um irgendwie auf “Nummer sicher” zu gehen…

Louis und Buddy zeigten trotz Matsch und Dauerregen am Freitag noch ordentliche Dressuren, die mit 41,4 bzw 45,8 Punkten bewertet wurden, was Platz 3 bzw. 7 bedeutete. Das CNC-Gelände war ein Mix aus der CIC** und CIC***-W Strecke, es gab viel zu Springen, aber keine technischen Höchstanforderungen und vor allem ein deutlich freundlicheres erstes Wasser. Beide Pferde meisterten die Strecke problemlos, wobei Louis sich etwas von den vielen Regenschirmen ablenken ließ. Buddy war einsame Spitze, wir werden immer mehr zu einer Einheit im Gelände und es hat einfach nur Spaß gemacht!

Im Springen waren beide dann fehlerfrei, was für Buddy in der Endabrechnung Platz 3 und für Louis Platz 4 bedeutete! Ein schönes Ergebnis für beide Pferde, für Louis ist die Saison damit voraussichtlich beendet, ich bin froh, dass er so gut wieder eingestiegen ist nach der Pause und das Jahr fit überstanden hat (2011 kann kommen ). Für Buddy steht noch ein Highlight auf dem Programm: Wir hoffen auf eine Startgenehmigung für Boekelo, was super spannend und ein absoluter Höhepunkt wäre!!

Ben konnte mit Wild Thing die CNC***-Prüfung übrigens gewinnen und hat damit auch die Quali für Boekelo in der Tasche!! Woolpit Amble war in ihrer ersten VS gleich 7.

Krispe ging in der CIC** an den Start, in der Dressur hatten wir eine schöne Trab- und Galopptour, auch der erste Schrittteil gelang noch, bei den Kurzkehrtwendungen und dem ganzen ‘Schritt-Galopp-Schritt’ hin und her wird sie noch etwas nervös, so bekamen wir am Ende 54 Punkte. Mit einer zügigen Nullrunde im Gelände und im Springen konnten wir die Prüfung auf Platz 3 beenden, und erhielten sogar noch den Stilpreis fürs Gelände! :-)  Sie wird in Varsseveld noch mal eine CIC** gehen…

Last weekend, Schenefeld near Hamburg staged it’s well known annual  Three-Day Trials, and it has been a great event again. Though small in number, the field of competitors comprised most of the German top eventers, and the organizers made an admirable effort to keep up conditions (and morals ) in spite of the dreadful weather.

As many others, Ben (with Wild Thing Z) and I (with Buddy) hoped to achieve a qualifying result for CCI*** - level. Thus, we decided not to compete in the CIC***-W (which was the Individual German Championship for Senior Eventers and the last compulsory trial for Kentucky), but in the CNC***, in order to “minimize the risks”…

In spite of mud and rain, Louis’ and Buddy’s dressage performances were satisfying and got them 41,4 resp. 45,8 pp, what amounted to 3^rd resp. 7^th rank. The CNC xc course proved to be a mixture of  CIC** and CIC***-W fences, lots to jump, but no technically questions at the limit, especially the first water fence was definitely more inviting. Both horses jumped brilliant clear rounds, Louis being obviously impressed by the hundreds of umbrellas around. Buddy was absolutely fabulous, we really are becoming a team in xc, it has been pure fun!

In showjumping, they both went clear, thus Buddy finished on a total 3rd and Louis on 4th place! A very satisfying result for both horses, for Louis it means the end of this year’s competing, I am grateful that he did so well and stayed sound after the intermission (ready to tackle 2011 ) For Buddy, another highlight is scheduled: We hope to be accepted in Boekelo CCI***, that would be immensely exciting and an absolute dream finish of the season!

Ben managed to win the CNC*** with Wild Thing and has thus achieved the necessary qualification for Boekelo, too!! Woolpit Amble finished her first Advanced on a rewarding 7^th rank.

Krispe competed in the CIC**, performed well in dressage during the trot and canter movements and the first part of the walk, but these “turn about the haunches” and all this walk-canter-walk business still upsets her a little, thus we collected 54 pp. With a speedy double clear in xc and sj, we finished 3^rd, and received the “Best  Style Award” for our xc round! For Krispe, another CIC** in Varsseveld is scheduled.

Wie ich gerade beschämt feststellen muss, ist mein letzter Eintrag schon eine ganze Weile her, der Anlass aber ähnlich erfreulich…

Am vergangenen Wochenende waren wir zum ‘Warm-up’ nach der Sommerpause in Bad Harzburg, leider konnte nur Buddy an den Start gehen, da Krispe sich ein Hufgeschwür zugezogen hatte. Sehr unpassend aber immerhin harmlos. Buddy und ich konnten da anknüpfen wo wir aufgehört hatten: in der Dressur vielleicht etwas von den (zu hunderten vorhandenen) Fliegen irritiert und dazu nicht 100% genau von mir geritten, reichte es diesmal zu 46.1 Punkten, das können wir besser! Aber mit einer absolut positiven und motivierten Geländerunde konnten wir uns sogar bis an die Spitze vorschieben, die wir auch im Springen nicht mehr abgaben. Besonders erfreulich, da Buddy und ich noch keinePrüfung gewinnen konnten bisher Auch sehr erfreulich: Ben und Woolpit Amble waren 4. im CIC**!!

Als nächstes steht Schenefeld auf dem Plan, da soll Buddy vorrausichtlich in der VS sein fehlendes CCI*** Quali-Ergebnis abliefern und Louis geht seine erste VS, nach dem Sieg in Hünxe bin ich sehr positiv gestimmt! Krispe wird in dem CIC** an den Start gehen um weiter Erfahrung zu sammeln. Viel zu tun, aber von nichts kommt bekanntlich ja auch nichts

I must admit that I am a little ashamed to realize that my last entry here has been quite some time ago, but I am glad to tell that it has been a similarly happy occasion!

Last weekend we went to Bad Harzburg for a “warm up” after the summer break. Sadly only Buddy was able to compete, Krispe was on sick leave, she had had pus in the foot last Monday. Very unsuitable, but at least harmless… Buddy and I were able to continue were we stopped last time: In the Dressage test he was somewhat irritated by the myriads of flies around, and maybe I didn’t give him 100% support, thus we got 46,1, we should surely be able to do better than that!

Then he did an absolutely brilliant and motivated xc round, which brought us into the lead. We did not give way due to another clear round in showjumping, and I am especially happy about that as it is my first victory with Buddy

Also very good news:  Ben and Woolpit Amble finished on 4th place in the CIC**!!

My next competition will be Schenefeld, were Buddy shall hopefully aquire the necessary qualifying result for a start in CCI*** (probably in the national Advanced, which is also the German Individual Championship). Louis is also entered, it will be his first Advanced, but after the victory in Hünxe I am very confident! Krispe has been rescheduled for the CIC** to gain some more experience. We will be quite busy, but, as we all know, - no pain, no gain
